The KC defense was dominant Sept. 9, limiting the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College Norsemen to minimal offensive yards -- and a shutout -- defeating the Norsemen, 48-0, at Longview's Lobo Stadium. NEO has lost its first two games by a combined score of 92-0.
Against NEO, WR Michael Phoenix caught four TD passes for 128 yards and three touchdowns.
On defense, DT Kajuan Robinson had six tackles, 2.5 sacks and one TFL.
KC improved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in Southwest Junior College Football Conference play.
NMMI defeated Navarro College last week, 50-30, in Corsicana in its first SWJCFC game.
NMMI's offense exploded for the half-century point mark thanks to five end zone strikes by sophomore quarterback Koby Muasau.
Muasau, who currently sits atop the NJCAA D1 leaderboard with 12 TD tosses, connected with three receivers for the touchdown passes. Treyvion Beamon – currently No. 1 in the nation in TD receptions with eight – had three.
For the other two, Muasau connected with his pair of veteran tight ends: sophomores Noah Armijo and Manual Gomez.
The KC vs. NMMI game is set for 5 p.m. (CDT) Saturday, Sept. 16, at Roswell's Wool Bowl. For fans who cannot make it, it will be livestreamed with play-by-play here: https://www.ksvptv.com/nmmi-junior-college/.
