LADY RANGERS ADVANCE TO REGION 14 SEMIFINALS WITH WIN OVER ANGELINA COLLEGE
The Kilgore College Lady Rangers secured a narrow 57-55 victory over the Angelina College Lady Roadrunners in the Region 14 Tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday, surviving a late-game surge to advance in the bracket.
Ja'Sani Green led the Lady Rangers with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Madison Bob and Rhylei Hendrick each chipped in 10 points. Kilgore built a 28-20 halftime lead behind a strong defensive effort that limited Angelina to just 21.4% shooting in the first half.
The Lady Roadrunners mounted a furious second-half comeback fueled by Aminah Dixon, who finished with a game-high 23 points.
Despite Angelina outscoring Kilgore 35-29 in the final two periods and shooting 51.9% from the floor after the break, Kilgore's bench depth proved decisive. The Lady Rangers' reserves outscored Angelina's bench 15-0, providing the necessary cushion to endure 28 team turnovers.
Kilgore dominated the glass with a 38-25 rebounding advantage and capitalized on 21 points off turnovers to maintain their lead.
With the quarterfinal win, Kilgore College moves on to the semifinals 3 p.m. this Friday in Baytown.
They will face the winner of the matchup between Tyler Junior College and Paris Junior College for a spot in the championship game.
