The Kilgore College Lady Rangers will host the annual Evelyn Blalock Classic Jan. 2–3, 2026, inside Masters Gymnasium, welcoming top-ranked matchups to open the new year.
The classic honors legendary KC coach Evelyn Blalock, who launched the Lady Rangers' basketball program in 1979. During her 18 seasons at KC, Blalock built one of the NJCAA's premier women's basketball programs, compiling a 408-166 record and winning national championships in 1988, 1990 and 1993.
Under her leadership, the Lady Rangers captured six Region XIV titles and qualified for the national tournament three additional times in 1986, 1987 and 1991.
Blalock's impact on the game earned widespread recognition. She was inducted into the NJCAA Women's Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1999 and later the Kilgore College Hall of Fame in 2002. She was also named the WBCA Junior/Community College National Coach of the Year in 1989 and 1990.
KC will host four teams in this year's classic, with two games scheduled each day.
