Lady Rangers upset TJC in quarterfinals of Regional Tournament
They said it's hard to beat a team three times in a season, and Kilgore College's Lady Rangers proved that tonight with a 83-70 victory over Tyler Junior College in the quarterfinals of the Region 14 Tournament held at TJC's Wagstaff Gymnasium.
TJC defeated KC both times in the regular season, but the Lady Rangers stepped it up March 8 to advance to the semifinals to play Trinity Valley at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 10.
The win snapped a seven game winning-streak by TJC.
The Lady Apaches gained ground in the second half after trailing by 10 points at the half, but KC never gave the lead up in the second half.
KC was led in scoring by Makayla Lewis who came off the bench to score 20 points. Nyla Inmon and Alyssia Thorne each scored 14 -- Inmon earning a double-double by also grabbing 11 rebounds.
Alexis Anderson and Aaliyah Davis were also in double figures with 10 points each.
TJC was led in scoring by Victoria Dixon with 21 points.
Tyler ends its season at 20-11, while KC improves to 14-16.
